IHD special recognition

Hats off to Turton

Turton Media Arts College in Bolton were early, brilliant supporters — celebrating Hat Day before the rest of us had quite got our act together.

Special recognition – Turton Media Arts College, Bolton

Well, we waited… and waited… and waited… and thought about it… then waited some more. Years, in fact. Eventually it happened — without a prompt or a word of advertising, some clever souls took it upon themselves to celebrate International Hat Day.

Congratulations, Turton Media Arts College!

In 2010 a sixth-form class in Bolton put up posters, spread the word around college, and turned up in hats. In 2011 they did it again. Proper grassroots millinery. The old site gave them a special recognition shout-out, and we’re happy to repeat it here.

Schools, colleges, offices and pubs: if you want to do the same, you don’t need permission. Print the sign, pick a hat, and share it with #InternationalHatDay.

We’ve kept individual student names off this page. If you were in one of these photos and would like a credit — or would rather it came down — email hats@internationalhatday.com.
